What is a Social Set?
A social set is a collection of social media accounts for a person or brand, making it easy to write your content once and cross‑post across platforms.
Each set has its own drafts, schedule, and analytics, and you can share them in teams to keep personal, business, or client work separate.
You can have multiple social sets, for example, one for your personal social accounts, one for a project you're working on, one for your company, and so on. For detailed guidance on organizing multiple social sets at scale, see Managing Multiple Social Sets.
Connect Your Social Accounts
To add accounts to a new Social Set:
Open the accounts menu in the top-left.
Click + Add New Social Set.
Authenticate with your first platform (X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, or Mastodon)
To add accounts to an existing Social Set:
Select the social set from the accounts menu.
Click the + icon or go to settings and click + Add Social Account.
Authenticate each additional platform you want to include.
All your accounts can be managed in the Settings under Social Sets as well.
Need someone else to share their credentials?
Team members and clients can safely share their credentials in Typefully. See Collaboration in Typefully for guidance on inviting and setting up a team.
Write Once, Cross-Post everywhere
On new drafts, all platforms in your social set are enabled by default, and the content will sync from your primary platform to the rest, so that you can write once and publish everywhere.
For each draft, you enable/disable platforms by toggling them on and off in the Platform modal. To set your primary platform or re-order the defaults for future drafts, head to the Change platform defaults settings.
Pro tip: Create one master draft, then disable sync, and tweak the copy for each platform's audience and tone.
Drafts, Calendar & Analytics per Social Set
Switching between social sets changes your entire working context. Each social set has its own:
Drafts: Separate drafts and tags
Calendar view: Scheduled and published posts
Analytics: Performance metrics for your posts and followers (only supports X for now)
Settings: scheduling preferences, API keys, and engagement tools.
When to Use One vs. Multiple Social Sets
Common scenarios for our customers to use multiple social sets are:
Creator with personal + business accounts: Separate your personal brand from your company's content.
Startup with founder content: Individual social sets for each co-founder plus one for the company brand.
Agency managing clients: Dedicated team and social set per client to keep analytics and content calendars separate.
Marketing teams: Department-specific social sets with different team access levels.
Pro tip: switch social sets instantly with the command bar. Just press Cmd+K and type the social set name. See Managing Multiple Social Sets for advanced switching and organization.
Sharing Social Sets in Teams
When working in a team or with clients, you may want some social sets to be visible only to a specific group—like a particular department, a client, or a content creator.
That's why you can share social sets in teams and enable seamless collaboration while maintaining control of drafting and publishing. Learn more about collaborating in teams here.
