Scheduling Timezones in Typefully

Typefully uses the timezone configured for each Social Set to manage all scheduled posts. This ensures your content goes live exactly when you intend, regardless of where you’re located.

How Timezones Work

When you create a new Social Set, Typefully automatically sets its timezone based on your current browser timezone. Once it’s set, it stays that way, even if you travel or use a different device later. You can manually change the timezone of a Social Set in its Scheduling settings, from the Schedule modal, or in the Calendar.

💡 To set the timezone, go to your Social Set > Scheduling, and then select the desired Timezone. This ensures that all your scheduled posts follow the correct local time for that social set.

All times and dates you see in Typefully (like scheduled posts) are shown using the Social Set’s timezone, not your device’s. This helps keep your scheduling consistent, even when you travel.

Here's an example:

Let’s say your Social Set is set to London time, but you’re currently in New York. If you schedule a post for 3:00 PM, Typefully will still interpret it as 3:00 PM London time — not converted to your local New York time. As long as the time you choose isn’t in the past for London, it’ll schedule just fine — even if it looks like it’s “in the past” where you are.

💡 Troubleshooting Tips : Seeing an error like “Date is in the past”? Here’s what to check:

  1. Check your Social Set timezone
    Go to Social Set > Scheduling to confirm it’s set to the right timezone.

  2. Check which timezone is being used
    Make sure the time you’re scheduling hasn’t already passed in that timezone — not just on your device.

Example Error Message:

This means the date and time you chose for your post have already passed in the selected timezone. As shown below, Typefully compares your scheduled time with the current time for that timezone. If the time is in the past, the post cannot be scheduled.

Why doesn’t my timezone update automatically when I travel?

Each Social Set keeps its original timezone so your schedules stay consistent no matter where you log in from. Settings > Social Set > Scheduling has a convenient button to set the social set timezone to your current browser timezone.

Can I change my timezone later?

Yes! Go to Social Set > Scheduling and update it anytime.
